SEM & TEM
Every Monday is the day for doing experiment! haha... it's my practical of Biochemistry/Genetics (alternate each week) Today was the first experiment of Biochemistry, as usual..... it's about Microscopy....
Paiseh to say it was my first time to get in touch (see only la.. haha.) with the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). Normally the simple microscopes used in the laboratory are light microscope and dissecting microscope which have low resolving power if compared to SEM & TEM!
SEM & TEM are really 'huge' lolz.... feeling so nice to see the images display on the screen! We were given explanation by the "teachers" there who could those superb microscopes... but we didn't use it because this was only the first exposure to them... will only able to use it on our second/third year
It's quite different to see images from TEM and SEM, as didn't need to search hard under the light microscope to see the specimens.... just need to stare at the screen ahahaa... (personally think like that, practically not sure lolz because no experience at all)...
*should I choose microbiology as my major leh?... haiz...

God..you're fortunate for being able to even have a look at SEM ... we don't even have one here in IMU ...talk about all the subsidies by government.. all I got for my microbio lab work was the 'ol light microscope .. but it was enough to look at the Gram stained specimens.
having a hard time with microbio now ...lol! it's quite a wide subject but it's nice to know all these small microbes that cause so many diseases..
quite a number of my lecturers are expert in microbio ... they are PhD holders ... I guess the first step is to get a degree, preferably majoring in microbio :D
so that next time you can lecture the medical students! :D
we usm here got offer major in microbiology, if we don't even have a SEM or TEM then teruk oh.. haha
seems like really microbio should be a better choice for me huh.. aiks
