Kiu Ong Yah

haha... relax relax already, hehe.. although haven't finish my final exam...
tomorrow will be the last day, and the one and only subject left is MUET paper 3, which is an objective paper!
haha... we don't need to study anymore ^^
(eh.. for temporary of course... since there are so many more syllabus to be finished!)

today just finished Biology paper 1, which is also an objective paper.
wuahahah... almost more than half of the 50 questions... were looked so familiar to us! It was because, we had done those questions before!
those questions were taken out from a reference book which most of us just bought it last last Friday.
Don't get us wrong, it's such a coincident, we didn't know that teacher would take questions from that book ^o^
and only those who were hardworking, had done the questions from the book, got to know the answers lar..

oh ya, did I ever mention that I'm of Hokkien...hmmm
so, recently, these nine days my family is 'fasting' (= having dishes without meats)
but the real people who follows the rules is my only my grandmother ler...
as my brothers and I didn't really only eat vegetables but also meats like normal when having our dishes outside of the house =p
why do we want to 'fast' for 9 days?
hmm... because now is the "Nine Emperor Gods Festival" a.k.a "Jieu Hwang Yeh" or "Kiu Ong Yah" which celebrated by Hokkien dialect's (mostly... but actually I'm not very sure of it)
ah.. Do you notice some of the people are wearing a yellow band (or called as yellow cloth?hmm) on the wrist?
ya.. I'm wearing too.. but I'm not sure wear it for what purpose.. but since my grandmother helped me to wore it .. ah.. just let her to do so lor... (almost wear it every year)
but according to her, it's for 'protection' (or to be correct, is 'bao you') wor...
another thing... try to notice something, almost every year during this periods, there are raining days...... , just like raining season... right? try to notice it next year ya...
but if you ask me about the meaning or the purpose of celebrating this festival.. haha... this is a difficult question to me...

however, I've checked on some websites just now.... so here it goes:
http://www.thephuket.com/information/vegetari.htm
http://weecheng.com/singapore/9eg/index.htm
http://www.festivalinmalaysia.com/nineemperorgodsfestival.html

from these websites, I get different stories of the origin of this festival..haha.. which one is the correct one? don't know !
haha...
